Uttara Swami Malai Temple, also known as Malai Temple, located in RK Puram Sector 7 on Palam Road, Delhi, is a temple of South Indian civilization. This temple is dedicated to Lord Swaminath who is worshiped by the people of South India. He is also worshiped by the names of Murugan and Murugan Swami and Swaminath. This temple mainly displays South Indian civilization and culture. This temple is built according to the Chola style. All Hindu devotees come here but most people from Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada communities come for worship.

Why is this temple called Malai Temple?
As we told you that Uttara Swamy Temple is also called Malai Temple and in the Tamil language the word Malai means hill. But those who don’t have the knowledge of Tamil language, think that in this temple, the Lord will be offered the food of Malai (Cream), or the Prasad of Malai (Cream) will be distributed so that the Malai temple is used. Due to being built on a hill, this temple is called Malai Temple. It is the tradition of Murugan temples to build a temple on a hill. All the temples of Lord Murugan are built on the mountain.

History of Uttara Swami Malai Temple.
The beginning of construction of the Uttara Swami Malai temple was done on 8 September 1965 by Shri Meenjor Bhaktavastaslam in a meeting organized under the leadership of Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Sastri. Shri Meenjor Bhaktavastaslam the chief minister of Tamil Nadu. The main gate of the temple was established and consecrated on 7 June 1973. After this Shilp Kala Mandapam was established here on 18 September 1983. Apart from Lord Uttara Swami, the temples of Lord Karpaga Vinayak, Sri Sundeshwara, and Goddess Meenakshi were also constructed here. The temple of Navagraha deities and Adi Shankara Charya Hall have also been established here.
