India Gate is a monument or mausoleum built in memory of Indian and British soldiers, which is located in the state of Delhi, India. This monument was built as a Commemoration to the memory of the soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War and the Afghan Wars. The height of this monument is 42 meters and the width is 9.1 meters. It was inaugurated by Lord Irwin, the Viceroy of India. this monument was designed by the architect Edwin Lutyens. It is one of the biggest graves of soldiers martyred in the First World War, along with it is also a famous tourist place.

History of India Gate Delhi
India Gate is a war memorial dedicated to Indian soldiers and was built during British rule. This monument was built by the British rulers for the 70,000 soldiers who lost their lives fighting in the First World War and the Afghan war. The credit for its construction goes to the Duke of Connaught, he laid the foundation stone of India Gate on 10 February 1921 and it was inaugurated on 12 February 1931. The Duke of Connaught was the 3rd son of Queen Victoria. The names of more than 13,516 Indian and British soldiers are written in this memorial. Red and yellow stones have been used to make this monument, which was brought from Bharatpur.

India Gate is similar to the Arch de Triomphe of France which is located in Paris. It is also a war memorial. At the top of the structure, the word INDIA is written and it is also adorned with an inscription of the Sun. The dates in Roman numerals are MCMXIV (1914 left) and MCMXIX (1919 right).

Amar Jawan Jyoti
Beneath it, a war memorial was built after the independence of India, it was named Amar Jawan Jyoti. It was built in memory of the Indian soldiers who died in the 1971 India-Pakistan war.
