The Unique Cave System

Gupt Godavari features two main caves nestled within the mountains. The water inside these caves reaches knee height. The first cave is large and spacious, but its narrow entrance makes it slightly challenging to pass through. The second cave is long and narrow, with a continuous stream of water flowing from rocks deep within. This stream flows through one cave and disappears underground, giving the site its name, “Gupt Godavari,” meaning “Hidden Godavari.”

Inside the larger cave, there are two stone-carved thrones, believed to belong to Lord Rama and Lord Laxman. The temple here, called the Ram Darbar, has statues of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, and Laxman, where visitors can experience the divine ambiance of the caves.
