The Story of Bharat Milap

The story of Bharat Milap is detailed in the Valmiki Ramayana and other ancient texts. When Lord Ram was exiled to the forest for 14 years, his brother Bharat renounced the throne of Ayodhya. Bharat journeyed to Chitrakoot to meet Lord Ram and requested him to return and reclaim the kingdom. However, Lord Ram refused, explaining that he was bound by their father’s promise. Bharat then took Ram’s sandals (padukas) on his head and returned to Ayodhya, placing them on the throne and ruling in Lord Ram’s name until his return. Bharat’s love, sacrifice, and loyalty remain an unparalleled example of devotion that continues to inspire devotees today.
