Mythological History of Adhya Katyani.
In ancient times, there was a sage named Katyayan, he was a great devotee of Lord Durga. He did severe penance for Lord Durga. Pleased with his penance, Lord Durga appeared to him and asked him to ask for any boon he wanted. The sage sought the wish of Goddess Durga to be born as a daughter in his house and become her father.
Lord Durga was very happy to hear this wish and gave her a boon. And after some time she was born as a daughter in their house. Later the sage named his daughter Katyani. Later this girl became famous by the name Katyayani Devi, who is considered a form of Navdurga. And Chhatarpur temple is also dedicated to this goddess.
