The Glorious History of Maihar State
The construction of Maihar Fort dates back to the 18th century, under the rule of Raja Beni Singh, who established the fort as a symbol of strength and protection for the kingdom. In 1788, Raja Beni Singh was assassinated, and his daughter Rajdhar assumed power. Rajdhar expanded the fort and was instrumental in building several temples and structures that enhanced the region’s religious and cultural importance. The fort not only served as a defense point but also stood as a testament to the grandeur of the Maihar dynasty.
