History of the Temple:
The history of the Tripura Sundari Raj Rajeshwari Temple is closely associated with the Kalchuri dynasty. It was built in the 11th century by King Karna Dev, a ruler of the Kalchuri dynasty, whose capital was in Tevar (ancient Tripuri). The Idol’s History: The idol of Goddess Tripura Sundari is believed to have emerged from the earth itself. It lies in a reclining posture, facing west, supported by a single stone slab. It is said that before 1985, the site was a fort, and this ancient idol was found there. Near the idol, a shepherd used to tie his goats.
