Taj Mahal, Agra

Taj Mahal is a very beautiful monument located in Agra City, India. It was built by Shah Jahan who was the ruler of the Mughal dynasty and was the son of the Mughal Emperor ruler Jahangir (Nur-ud-din Muhammad Salim).

Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal as the tomb of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. It is believed that Mumtaz Mahal was very beautiful and this Taj Mahal built in his memory is equally beautiful. Due to its unique beauty, it has been included in the 7 wonders of the world. In 1983 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. History of Agra Taj Mahal

The construction of the Taj Mahal was started by Shah Jahan in 1631 and it was completed in 1653 (22 years). It will take 10 years to complete the work of the dome alone, the rest work is completed in 7 years. For its manufacture, many skilled artisans were called from the country and abroad. About 20 thousand laborers were used in its construction and 32 million rupees were spent which is equal to 52.8 billion rupees of today’s time. Elephants were used to move marble stones from one place to another.

The tomb is the centerpiece of the 17-hectare (42-acre) complex, which includes a mosque and a guest house, and is set in a formal garden surrounded by an unobstructed wall on three sides.
