से मनोकामना की कि यदि उनके पति सुरक्षित लौट आएँगे तो वे मंदिर का जीर्णोद्धार करवाएँगी। मान्यता है कि युद्ध में स्वयं भगवान शिव योगी का रूप धारण कर कर्नल मार्टिन की रक्षा के लिए उपस्थित हुए और उन्हें विजयी बनाया। जब कर्नल मार्टिन सकुशल लौटे तो उनकी पत्नी ने वचन निभाते हुए सन् 1883 में मंदिर का पुनर्निर्माण कराया। मंदिर में आज भी इस घटना का शिलालेख मौजूद है। यह कहानी इस मंदिर की महत्ता को और भी Ujjain, often referred to as the astronomical capital of India, has been an important center for science, astrology, and spirituality since ancient times.
