विजयी बनाया। जब कर्नल मार्टिन सकुशल लौटे तो उनकी पत्नी ने वचन निभाते हुए सन् 1883 में मंदिर का पुनर्निर्माण कराया। मंदिर में आज भी इस घटना का शिलालेख मौजूद है। यह कहानी इस मंदिर की महत्ता को और भी Located a few kilometers away from Rithi in Katni district, Madhya Pradesh, the Nandchand Shiva Temple beautifully combines devotion and history. This temple is not just a sacred space for worship, but also a living testimony to India’s ancient art and architecture. As soon as one arrives here, the tranquil atmosphere, lush greenery, and scattered remnants of ancient temples transport the mind to a bygone era. Nohleshwar Mahadev Temple, Nohta – A Living Example of History, Culture, and Architecture History The history of the Nandchand region goes back to around the 5th to 8th century CE. During this period, several temples were built here dedicated to Shaivism, Vaishnavism, and Shakti worship. Ghughwa Fossil National Park The Gupta rulers and their successors enriched this region with religious monuments. The Kalachuri kings also continued the construction of temples. Over centuries, invasions and the passage of time caused destruction, leaving behind scattered ruins of many temples. In the 19th century, British surveyor Alexander Cunningham noted in his survey that at least eight ancient temples existed in this area. The present Nandchand Shiva Temple is a reconstructed structure, built by assembling fragments of these ruins. That is why its walls, doors, and spire reflect a blend of different architectural periods. Nohleshwar Mahadev Temple, Nohta – A Living Example of History, Culture, and Architecture

Located in the small village of Nohta in Jabera Tehsil of Damoh district, Madhya Pradesh, Nohleshwar Mahadev Temple is not just a religious site, but also a living example of history, culture, and architectural brilliance. It is considered an important center of the ancient Shaiva tradition of the Narmada region. Every visitor experiences a unique spiritual energy here. The name of the temple reflects both its mythological and historical significance. Surrounded by the serene banks of the Narmada River and the beauty of nature, the temple appears even more mystical. Nohata Jain Temple – A Confluence of Faith, History and Miracles History The construction of the Nohleshwar Temple dates back to the 10th century, during the time of the Kalachuri dynasty. It is believed that Queen Nohla Devi, wife of King Yuvarajdev I, commissioned this magnificent temple. Hence, the village came to be known as Nohta, and the temple was named Nohleshwar. Kundalpur Jain Tirth Damoh Historians suggest that the temple was not only a place of worship but also a cultural and social center, where rituals, gatherings, and various festivals were organized. British archaeologists discovered the temple in ruins in the late 19th century. Later, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) undertook its preservation and partial reconstruction, reviving its grandeur. There is also a belief that this temple was once a part of the “City of 108 Shiva Shrines”. Over time, most of them disappeared, but Nohleshwar still stands proudly in all its glory. Ghughwa Fossil National Park Architecture Nohleshwar Temple is built in the Nagara style of architecture, which is one of the finest examples of ancient temple construction in Central India. The temple is constructed on a high plinth (Jagati) about 6 feet in height and nearly 100 feet long. Its towering Shikhara (spire) seems to touch the sky, making it majestic from a distance. It consists of a Mukha Mandapa (porch), Sabha Mandapa (assembly hall), Antaral (vestibule), and Garbha Griha (sanctum). The walls and pillars are adorned with intricate carvings, depicting deities, celestial nymphs, mythological figures, and scenes from legends.
