Where Devotion Meets a Modern City

Indore, the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh, is well known for its cleanliness, vibrant street food, and growing urban culture. Amidst the hustle of this modern city lies a place where the noise fades, and divine chants fill the air — the ISKCON Temple Indore, also known as the Sri Sri Radha Govind Temple.

This is not just a temple, but a vibrant spiritual hub where devotion, peace, and knowledge come together. It is a sanctuary for the soul — where one doesn’t just visit to see idols, but to feel the presence of Lord Krishna himself. The aura, the chants, and the rituals offer a unique spiritual experience, especially for those seeking a connection beyond the material world.

History: Global Devotion, Local Presence

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) was founded in 1966 by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in New York City. His goal was to spread the teachings of Bhagavad Gita and Bhagavatam to the western world and revive the pure devotion of Lord Krishna globally.

At the age of 70, Swami Prabhupada left India and went to the West with barely any resources. But through his divine mission, he established over 700 ISKCON temples in more than 100 countries, uniting millions of devotees in Krishna consciousness.

In Indore, the ISKCON temple was established in the 1990s. Built with the support of local devotees and the global ISKCON community, the temple has grown into a major center for spiritual learning, bhakti-yoga, and Vaishnav culture. Today, it stands as a serene and sacred place where thousands of people find inner peace and purpose.

The temple’s architecture is a beautiful blend of traditional Hindu temple design and modern engineering. The entire structure is built with white marble, which glows under sunlight and adds a divine charm to the surroundings.

Inside the sanctum sanctorum (garbhagriha), one can witness beautifully decorated idols of Sri Sri Radha Govind, Lord Nityananda, and Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. The darbar hall is spacious and adorned with colorful stained glass windows, carved marble pillars, and a tranquil ambiance that enhances the spiritual mood.
