Delhi is making its mark all over the world for its historical buildings and cultural heritage. There are many old forts here which tell the history of themselves and the country of India. Red Fort is one of these forts in India which is known all over the world for its beauty and architecture. Every year lakhs of tourists come from the country and abroad to see the Red Fort.

The rulers of the Mughal dynasty ruled for 200 years in the Red Fort. The Mughal rulers ruled in this fort till 1856. Apart from the residence of the Mughals, it was used for their formal and informal meetings.

The Red Fort is also considered a memento of India’s independence. On 15 August 1947, when India got freedom from the British rule, the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal had hoisted the tiranga flag from the Red Fort.
